In his recent role as Director of Engineering at Virgin Media O2, Richard led the development of cloud-native solutions and built a data platform engineering function from the ground up to over 40 engineers, supporting more than 300 data professionals. His efforts unlocked substantial value (~ 100m P/L in 2024), transforming the organisation into a technology-driven business. His team’s achievements were recognised twice by Google’s DORA DevOps Awards, celebrating their commitment to speed and continuous improvement without compromising stability.

Beyond his work with clients, Richard actively contributes to the data community. His YouTube channel, "Practical GCP" has attracted over 3000 subscribers, where he shares insights and hands-on guidance. He is also a recognised Google Developer Expert (GDE) in Cloud, a testament to his expertise as one of the UK’s leading voices in Google Cloud.
